If you suffer from over-plucked or weak eyebrows, don't worry! A solution is available, as Alyson Richardson reveals
From the age of 15 Theresa starting plucking her eyebrows. Her eyebrows were always thin to begin with, but with the current trend that was around in the Seventies she went even thinner. The result of too much plucking eventually lead to sparse growth to her already fine brows. To cover up the fact there was little eyebrow hair Theresa would use a brow pencil and pencil them in. She would also use black mascara which stays on longer than the pencil. With all the penciling-in and shaping and making sure the brows were exactly the same, Theresa was getting tired of always having to 'put on the brows' before anyone could see her. She really wanted and needed something permanent...
Karen Betts is the UK's leading Micro Pigmentation Technician, 80 percent of her work is permanent make-up procedures on eyebrows. The procedure takes 60 minutes with results lasting for 12/18 months. First the eyes are measured and then the eyebrows are penciled in. Once agreed on shape and size the procedure can begin. A needle is used to make microscopic strokes onto the skin's surface to give the illusion of natural brow hair. Betts used a dark brown colour on Theresa, which keeps it believable, black can appear too harsh and artificial. Some swelling may occur after the procedure which lasts for a few hours. To help ease the swelling just follow the simple after care routine - rub a little lavender gel to soothe and heal, and when cleansing wipe gently around the brows. A follow up session is recommended after 4-12 weeks to see how the colour has settled in and to make sure the client is still happy with the shape and results.
'I am extremely happy with my eyebrows,' says Theresa.
'Finally after all these years I have brows. It has changed my whole face. It enhances my cheekbones and I feel that my whole face has been lifted!'
Cost for the permanent make-up procedure on brows starts from £395. For more details and prices, contact: 0845 644 3994.
