  • HAIRY SITUATION
My boyfriend has very strong facial hair and every time he shaves he complains that he gets spots and ingrown hairs. Would laser treatment help?

  • Laser is an excellent way of helping reduce hair growth. I recommend the ND Yag Laser. It is excellent for Asian and black skin. What it does is target dark hairs and disables them at the root. This means after each course of treatment the hairs will get finer and finer and in your boyfriend’s case he will need to shave less, hence helping to reduce skin irritation. It is also great for treating ingrown hairs too, however a test patch and consultation must be carried out first to ensure that the skin is suitable for the laser. Remember laser treatments can be expensive and may take up to 12 months depending on the hair growth. Call 020 7935 5312 for more information or visit www.bharti-vyas.com

  • RED RASH

My boyfriend has his back waxed, but always comes up in red rashes that look like hives. He is quite sensitive but what can he do to prevent it?

  • Men have stronger hairs than women, so the pulling action can be painful and bring the skin up. However, it should not be coming up that much. Check which type of wax he is using as wax which contains lavender or other natural scents can irritate the skin. I find that wax containing tea tree seems to work the best – it is gentle, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. It’s also worth telling him to go for a warm strip wax as opposed to the hot wax.
