Who’s the hairdresser putting African hairstyles on the map? Charlotte Mensah, Afro Hairdresser of the Year 2014 & 2013 and owner of Hair Lounge, in London’s Portobello Road recently wowed a 3,500-strong crowd from 17 countries worldwide at the prestigious Aveda Congress 2015 in Minneapolis. Flying the flag for UK hairdressing, Charlotte was invited to be a Guest Artist to present a new take on natural texture inspired by the regal, nomadic women of the Western Sahara. After showcasing three stunning styles which highlighted big, billowy, straw-set curls and a trio of hair triumphs inspired by traditional African techniques such as hair threading, Charlotte received a standing ovation from the international audience.
