Expert Advice: I’m Experiencing A Change In Curl Pattern

Multi award-winning natural hairstylist, Anastasia Chikezie, has the solution to this reader’s haircare problem

I’m wigging it for winter so I’ve been canerowing my hair every week after a wash. I’ve noticed that my curl pattern is changing, it’s stretched and thinner. What can I do?

Canerowing is a great protective style and should not cause changes in your curl pattern. There are a few other possible reasons. One is that as you age, your hair type changes. Another is that your hair could have been permanently affected by straightening in the past. Also, if your body has gone through some kind of hormonal change like puberty, pregnancy, illness treatments, menopause etc, these could also be contributing factors. I recommend deep conditioning your hair at least once every three weeks with the ASIAM Hydrating Elation – it’s a deep, hydrating and fortifying treatment and will help in strengthening your hair.
