How Becoming a Detox Coach Changed My Life for the Better

Alana Panton runs her company Detox With Alana. But her path to her current passion hasn’t been plain sailing. Alana explains how her life changed for the better when she discovered the power of the detox

What did you do before you became an entrepreneur?

I worked as a corporate PR with Tata Group, Diageo and brands like Yakult and Saf.

Is Detox with Alana your side hustle, or your full-time job?

A side hustle come passion. Detoxing saved me from chronic depression.

What motivated you to start your own brand?

I’m now a fit and strong mum to a gorgeous toddler, running my own dream business but my road to health and happiness wasn’t so simple. Four years ago, I became clinically depressed after a traumatic divorce. I lost the corporate job I loved, isolated myself from friends, family and withdrew from life. I gave up.

After countless psychiatrists, prescriptions, institutions and suicide attempts, I was diagnosed with a rare, untreatable form of depression. During a life-changing visit to a wellness centre in Turkey, I discovered the benefits of detoxing, mentally and physically. I released the toxins that had plagued my mind and body for years. I began to heal. I had energy, I lost 14 kilos, my joy for life returned. I was ready to breathe again, live again… love again.

A powerful transformation occurred. I trained at The LifeCo Phuket as a detox coach. Now I guide others in a professional capacity, alongside a curated team of specialists including Mejuicer who produces the alkalising juices for us.

How did you raise the funding for your business?

I decided to help people during the lockdown, originally from home. Once I realised that customers wanted to detox monthly, I decided to turn it into a business and charge for the coaching service. I reinvested the earnings on my online presence, PR and marketing.

What makes Detox with Alana stand out from similar brands?

I coach people on how to detox properly for maximum effect. We offer workshops on sound healing, yoga, meditation, the detoxification process, and life after detox. To go to a quality detox centre can cost over £3K per week, I wanted to make detoxing available for everybody. My five-day detox program costs £349. Detox is like an MOT for your body, adding years on to your life.

What does your service include?

Detox juices, the detox program and daily schedule. A list of supplements that you will need. Audio meditation. A detox coaching session with myself, my mind-set coach and my nutritionist. Pre/post detox advice and guidelines.

What would you say to other wellness entrepreneurs starting up a company or brand?

Test your product first. As my background is in marketing and PR, I’ll add invest in strong branding and aim for exposure in magazines and newspapers.
