How to suss out human hair checklist

Courtesy of Sleek Hair

  • 100% human hair should not melt when heat styled at reasonable temperatures (average 250 degrees Celsius)

  • Sheen should be uniformed across the hair strands of 100% human hair.  If certain strands are a lot shinier than the others, this is a tell-tale sign that the hair contains synthetic fibres

  • 100% human hair will always have a subtle, burnt smell as result of being straightened

  • If the hair is a lot cheaper than the market average it is highly unlikely to be 100% human hair

  • 100% human hair will always have a velvety soft texture

  • 100% Virgin Remy Brazilian hair should be able to be dyed

  • Genuine 100% Virgin Brazilian hair should become wavy when wet and should only be available in colours 1b, 2, 4 or 5
