Perfumier Maya Njie

Since her launch in 2016, Maya Njie (pronounced En-jai’) has slowly been garnering attention for her distinctive and intimate unisex scents. Inspired by her love of photography and desire to capture the spirit of her Swedish and Gambian heritage, each androgynous fragrance is developed in-house and blended in small batches in Shoreditch. Maya’s work is a labour of love and passion.

Maya’s formulas are developed in her London studio, using a variety of essential oils, aroma compounds and resins. Making use of both naturals and synthetics in her creations – it’s nature and science combined. Ingredients such as musk and ambergris are synthetic substitutes and do not derive from their animal origin counterpart.
With care and precision, the blends are mixed in small fresh batches, filtered and bottled individually by hand with a refill service available for returning customers. All scents are all classed as Eau de Parfums with a generous oil content of 30% on average, meaning they last longer on your skin. Each fragrance retails for £90, but you can try before you buy with the Eau de Parfum Discovery Set, 5x 2ml (£30).
