Polished act: Roxanne Campbell

Roxanne Campbell’s trendsetting tips have a massive influence on how we dress our talons throughout the seasons

With the fashion world at her perfectly pedicured feet, it is astounding to think this forward-thinking fashionista is yet to reach 30! Now regularly collaborating with some of the world’s most prestigious brands and designers, including Amanda Wakeley and Lie Sang Bong, Roxanne was weaned on painting nails. ‘Black women love their nails and growing up with seven aunties and a nail technician mother, it is safe to say I grew up in an extremely nail-proud world!’ she says. Earning her stripes in swanky salons such as Harvey Nichols Champagne Nail Bar, ‘In the 90s I started to see some serious nail upkeep on R&B singers and rappers such as Monica, Lil Kim and Missy Elliot, so I knew I was on to a good thing,’ says Roxanne.

And a good thing she was. Roxanne’s eye for trends meant she was soon snapped up for plush magazine shoots and advertising campaigns, and during the 2012 London Olympics, Roxanne painted over 200 national flags on the nails of top athletes! ‘Named Manicurist of the Year in 2013, life today, can be one big juggling act,’ says Roxanne. ‘Travelling abroad to work on editorials, VIP press events, judging at Nailympia, teaching Nail Technology and working with designers at Fashion Week, I often realise that I’ve only had two days off per month – but I can honestly say that it doesn’t feel like work because I love what I do!’

Clean & Classy, £10

‘I recently launched my own nail lacquer line which was always a dream for me and I’m so proud of the end result. Mixing up the colours was so much fun! It’s been my job to be ahead with seasonal trends for the past 10 years, so I automatically knew what colours to create.’ Including everything from the softest greys and nudes to bitter oranges and shocking pinks, if you want to know how to design your digits for Christmas, we are on the case! ‘Burnt red, gold glitter, burgundy and pillbox red are all set to be huge over the coming months,’ spills Roxanne. Well, if we need another excuse to shop, we’ll say Roxanne sent us…
