Hype Coiffure’s top quarantine haircare tips

Accessorize

Whether your hair is natural, relaxed, coloured or you’re rocking a weave, now is the perfect time to experiment with accessories. I’m loving the African prints on headscarves right now. They are trendy and easy to wear, and with so many ways to tie them, you can create a variety of looks. Check out Instagram or YouTube to get inspiration and don’t forget to follow hair styling tips from your salon or stylist.

Want to revamp an old weave or inject some va va voom into your existing style? Try use styling clips, hairgrips or hairbands and get creative!

I’d also recommend buying a silk headscarf, silk cap or pillowcase to protect your hair at night from frizzing and losing moisture.

There you have it! Lots of tips to keep your hair looking good in lockdown. As challenging as it is, please wait for your professional salon to reopen before you do anything you may regret. Instead, see the situation as an opportunity to allow your hair to breathe and heal from the chemicals, heat and styling it usually experiences. Use this time to give your hair lots of TLC, plus stick to a consistent haircare regime to keep your hair healthy and hydrated.

And if you’re feeling self-conscious when you pop outside for some daily exercise or to do the weekly shop, remember, everyone is in the same boat. No one is watching your hair because they are busy with theirs. It won’t be long until you and your favourite stylist will meet again. In the meantime, don’t worry, be happy and embrace your natural beauty. You’ve got this!
